Base Ingredients
- 1/2 cup dates (about 8 dates), pitted
- 1–2 tbsp hot water (optional, use if dates are a little hard)
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp hemp seeds
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
Topping
- 1–2 tbsp chocolate chips
- More hemp seeds for topping
- Prepare Dates: Start by pitting the dates and placing them into a food processor. Add 1 tablespoon of hot water at a time as needed, then pulse until the dates form a cohesive ball.
- Mix Ingredients: Add peanut butter, hemp seeds, and cocoa powder to the date mixture. Pulse several times to combine everything thoroughly. The dough should be moist yet hold its shape. If the mixture is too wet, add a little extra cocoa powder to adjust consistency.
- Chill Dough: Refrigerate the dough for 15 minutes to firm up. Once chilled, scoop out the mixture using a tablespoon and gently roll into approximately 12 equally sized balls. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Melt Chocolate and Decorate: In a small bowl, melt the chocolate chips by microwaving in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the bliss balls, then sprinkle additional hemp seeds on top for garnish. Return them to the refrigerator to set before serving.
Notes
- If dates are very dry or hard, adding hot water helps soften them for easier blending.
- You can substitute peanut butter with almond or cashew butter for a different flavor.
- Make sure to refrigerate the bliss balls after assembling to help them hold their shape and enhance texture.
- Store these bliss balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Adjust sweetness by choosing sweeter chocolate chips or adding a touch of honey if desired.
