4.5 from 72 reviews

Cinnamon Sugar Cruffins combine the buttery flakiness of croissant dough with the convenient muffin shape, dusted generously with cinnamon sugar for a sweet and cozy breakfast treat that’s both easy to make and impressively delicious.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 8-ounce can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 12-cup muffin tin to ensure the cruffins don’t stick.
  2. Prepare Crescent Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface and separate into 4 rectangles. Press the seams firmly to seal any perforations so the dough doesn’t unravel during baking.
  3. Apply Butter and Cinnamon Sugar: Brush each dough rectangle evenly with the melted unsalted butter. Then sprinkle the combined cinnamon and sugar mixture generously over the buttered dough.
  4. Roll and Shape Dough: Roll each rectangle into a log shape. Slice each log in half lengthwise, then roll each half into a spiral shape resembling a muffin.
  5. Arrange and Bake: Place each spiral into a greased muffin cup. Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Finish with Butter and Sugar Coating: As soon as the cruffins come out of the oven, brush them with additional melted butter and immediately roll them in extra cinnamon sugar for a sweet, crunchy coating.

Notes

  • For an extra flaky texture, swap the crescent roll dough with puff pastry sheets.
  • Experiment with seasonal spices like pumpkin pie spice or nutmeg instead of cinnamon for a different flavor twist.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, then reheat gently before serving.
