Ingredients

Scale

Mocktail Version

  • 12 oz frozen orange juice
  • 12 oz frozen pineapple juice
  • 17 oz coconut water
  • 1 tsp coconut extract
  • 2 cups ice
  • 6 oz grenadine
  • Pineapple slices and cherries (optional)

Cocktail Version

  • 12 oz frozen orange juice
  • 12 oz frozen pineapple juice
  • 17 oz coconut water or 2 cups plain water
  • 6 oz white rum
  • 6 oz coconut rum
  • 2 cups ice
  • 6 oz grenadine
  • Pineapple slices and cherries (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Juices: In a blender, combine the frozen orange juice and frozen pineapple juice to start the tropical base for your smoothie.
  2. Add Liquid Ingredients (Mocktail): Pour in the coconut water and add the coconut extract for a subtle coconut flavor in the mocktail version.
  3. Add Liquid Ingredients (Cocktail): For the cocktail version, pour in the coconut water or plain water along with the white rum and coconut rum to infuse the drink with boozy tropical notes.
  4. Blend with Ice: Add the ice to the blender and blend all the ingredients until smooth and creamy, ensuring a perfectly chilled and frothy texture.
  5. Layer with Grenadine: Pour the blended smoothie into glasses, filling them about three-quarters full. Slowly pour the grenadine down the inside edge of each glass to create a beautiful, vibrant layered effect as it sinks to the bottom.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Optionally garnish each glass with pineapple slices and cherries for a festive and tropical presentation. Serve immediately to enjoy the fresh flavors and cool refreshment.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the rums and use coconut water plus coconut extract for flavor.
  • Using frozen juices instead of fresh juice and ice keeps the smoothie perfectly chilled without watering it down.
  • The grenadine adds sweetness and color contrast; pour slowly for the best layering effect.
  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of grenadine or substitute with pomegranate syrup if desired.
  • Always blend the ice fully to achieve a smooth texture without large ice chunks.
